Eight Fun Facts with Designer and Brand Founder Heidi Wynne

As part of our ongoing #BehindTheBrand series, we sat down with Heidi Wynne, designer and brand founder of her eponymous label Heidi Wynne, to learn more about her travels, sources of inspirations and daily life as a creative designer. 

Read below for 8 fun facts about Heidi that you didn’t know before! 

  1. Heidi was born in New York City but now resides upstate in the Hudson Valley where she spends her time renovating her country house and trying her best to resist getting a third dog. 
  2. She went on to study at the University of Pennsylvania, but she always knew that she wanted to start her own brand.  
  3. For the first collection, Heidi Wynne started with a simple cashmere wrap, ethically made in Nepal with vegetable dyes. Heidi has continued to work with the same cashmere mill since launch. (Social responsibility, ethical sourcing and quality are the core values of the Heidi Wynne brand.) 
  4. Her top fashion icons include Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and Lee Radziwill
  5. Heidi doesn’t eat meat and is a huge fan of AERA's vegan footwear (P.S. - we are too!)
  6. Her favorite cities include New York, Los Angeles, London, Belfast, Florence & Milan
  7. Due to the pandemic, Heidi hasn’t traveled in recent months, but instead, has found inspiration in vintage issues of Vogue Italia
  8. Heidi used to live on the Upper East Side and a few of her favorite spots in the city include McNally Jackson Books, Cafe Gitane, Sant Ambroeus in the West Village and UES, La Goulue, The Frick, The Jackie Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, and now Figure Eight!
